Me, I find that stuff the most bitter, horrible, evil concoction on the face of the earth. But I do like the way it smells.

Date: 2005-02-27 10:10 am (UTC)I'm from Oldham County - next county over from Jefferson i.e. Louisville(sorry if this is totally superfluous info, but I suppose you could be from some place like Montana and have no idea what I'm talking about). Now, however, I go to school in Virginia. I applied to Centre but even though I got in I knew I wanted to go to school out of state.

Date: 2005-02-27 01:02 pm (UTC)I used to be the same way--I would drink coffee only under extreme conditions (such as, half-frozen and it's the only hot drink available) and did my best to disguise the taste with lashings of sugar and cream.
Then I discovered that I was just a coffee snob.
You take Jamaican Blue Mountain whole-bean coffee, grind it yourself with a crank or burr grinder, and IMMEDIATELY brew the coffee via a drip or infusion method. I am not kidding when I tell you it tastes damn near as good as ordinary coffee smells (taken with a spoon of sugar and a mere dribble of cream).
Of course, the beans are $42 per pound, but you get what you pay for.
