I can't see any evidence that he may have been. Is he canonically a hockey player?

It’s mainly the look of the character that made me wonder—plus, I looked up Alex Raymond (who created Flash Gordon), and he was only about ten years younger than Baker and played a lot of sports as a teen, so he’d likely have heard of him, even if he’d been dead for six or seven years by that point.

I really want to see Pretty Pretty Please get made properly. It's exactly the kind of magical girl show I would delight in watching.

And curling is an entirely fascinating sport, even without the ways that curling stones seem to flip the bird to conventional physics. Some of those takeouts are phenomenal shots.
