OH COME ON!
Mar. 14th, 2006 09:20 pmBush visits "autistic basketball hero".
Sure, okay, I'm glad this kid is on the basketball team, and quite good at it. That's great. Really.
But...
1. He's not a hero. Nobody's had a life saved. Nobody's lives were risked. He didn't do anything heroic. He won a basketball game. Big flippin' deal.
2. Bush? He has (theoretically) got better things to do with his time. With the state of the world being what it is, I find this... I can't even comment.
3. And, of course, the impression this gives me is that for autistics to do something so utterly pointless is so wonderful that we might as well give up hope of ever seeing any autistic person do something just a bit more useful and worthwhile.
Plus, I'm just sick of hearing this story. Can we move onto something new now? Clearly, it's a slow news month, but surely you can find *something* to write about!
