When do you comment on other people's journals?

Honest curiosity here.

I try to comment only when I have something interesting to say. Or when I'm so overwhelmed by their brilliance that I'm completely incoherent. Or, sometimes, when their husband/grandmother/fish has died and I think they consider me to be close enough a friend that my commenting won't be an intrusion, then I leave a vague comfort-type comment.

No other reasons, really.

The T on this keyboard is broken. I wonder if we have another keyboard lying around which I can hook up to this computer....

I comment rarely, because I have this weird thought that people will go "Who is that?" and be all freaked out (mainly I have this weird thought because it's happened to me a couple of times).

Otherwise, for much the same reasons you do. Though with close friends' journals, I feel okay in commenting with something totally unrelated.
