Cricket! They've expanded since I got my very first issue from my dad, but it's still the same quality it was then. No ads, and the magazines last ages, more if you actually take care of them like we never did.... And well-written, as well.

I should mention it to people wanting books for "kids who don't read that much". A magazine is reading, and if you're not good at it, it's easier reading - the stories are shorter, and there's no shame in having pictures to match the words. Plus, you get a new one every now and again.

Only problem with these is the price, but that's kinda a side effect of the whole no ads thing. I don't care. I'm going to *find* a way to make sure that Ana (and now Evie!) have subscriptions to the whole set of literary ones, and maybe one or two of the others. I'd do the same for Seth and his brother, but as it is my mom's plan is to split the cost with somebody else, and I can't *do* that with Lizziey, she's all not-here and all.
