hah, that last one reminds me of what happened in school.

prof: "would you please put your phone to silent?"
kid 1: "it was my mom"
prof: "i don't care, just don't interrupt my class"
kid 2: "what if it was something important?"
prof: "well, if it was something important, there's no reason you should be listening to me, is there?"

Those are the sorts of people I would never let be support admins if I had a say. They think rules are to be followed. Which is true, up to a point. But the point of rules is to make things work better, and I tried to pick people who would understand that and understand the purpose of the rule, so they knew when to break it. Rules are guidelines to handle the vast majority of cases, but when you start following the rules merely to follow the rules and not to make things better, you become a bad leader amd you set a bad example. I firmly believe that, and I firmly believe that my approach works and worked. But I'm also arrogant and believe I know better than most people.

On the one about gay foster parents... these children don't have traditional homes, that is the point. I don't care if you believe a traditional two person heterosexual married home setup is better for children, that's not an option for these kids. And if you believe it's better to force them out of a loving home to who knows where, then you shouldn't be allowed to make decisions that affect children.

Man. I had to stop reading that last article when the Asst. Principal or someone similar was quoted as saying "conversating." *headdesk*

Lol I was just about to comment on that very same thing. Alfred Parham, assistant principal, comes from the Hillbilly School For Administeraters: "They're not supposed to use them for conversating back and forth during school because if they were allowed to do that, they could be text messaging each other for test questions."

What is conversating?
How is "back and forth" conversating different from any other?
How is it like text messaging?
What prevents kids from walking up to classmates between classes and asking them about test questions personally?
This is so ill-thought out it makes me want to barf.

Then again, I did get detention from the principal my senior year for taking my shoes off on school grounds. When I was graduating, I wore flip-flop sandals and kicked them off as I was walking across the stage to shake the principal's hand. I hope this kid gets to graduate, and I hope his mom calls him just as he gets his diploma.
