I agree with you about daylight saving time. I was startled, a couple of days ago, by a couple of things in an NPR article (via wbur.org) about daylight saving. One was that in a poll, 50% of people disliked changing clocks twice a year, 10% liked it, and 40% said they had no opinion.

There was also a proposal by a Republican congressman to permanently move the clocks forward by half an hour, but I think he was pulling the reporter's leg, because he didn't say we should split the difference, but "split the baby."

I'm in the minority of people who want to abolish daylight saving and go back to standard time, but I don't feel strongly about that: Boston clock time will be about half an hour off from solar time, the only question is in which direction.
