Can somebody explain to me why Baltar bothered building a real Cylon detector if he was just going to lie about the losers? And why did Sex Six ask him to do that? Doesn't she know who all the Cylons are? Is it really just a plot device so that we, the viewers, can chant "I know something you don't know" every week?

That bugged me too. Also, you would think people would find it strange that he was talking to himself and having sex with thin air. Surely someone would have said something by now?

They've given him strange looks. They just don't mention that he's crazy because 1. rich and brilliant people are entitled to be eccentric and 2. they need him. Also, 3. it's impolite.

i think they aren't mentioning the fact that he's crazy because he has a past history that we aren't yet, or maybe wont be made aware of. that could explain why people are kinda shrugging everything off, i mean he is a genius and alot of genius' are ... well as you said, eccentric. this promises to be interesting. very interesting.

you know, i wanted to make a prediction too, i have a feeling that the cylons are going to end up revolting, at least the human looking ones, as they desire so much to be human ... i could be wrong here, but i saw the expression on the two cylons' faces as they were walking through the city and they both looked wistful and sad, obviously, about not being human, and i think this is going to get a little more epic and biblical in a nonchristian sense maybe ... i dunno. possibly the second season.
