Is the way the gargoyles glide accurate? How long, realistically, can they be expected to be able to stay up there? How long can hangliders stay up? Are there two gs in hangglider? Why do their clothes also turn to stone?

I've always wondered about the clothes too.

I don't think all of the gliding they do can be very accurate, though. I mean, they rush downwards and stuff! But whatever, most sci-fi/fantasy television isn't all that scientifically accurate anyway. ::snerk:: I enjoy the stories more than the nitty gritty.

And I think hang glider is two words.

Yeah, I mean, some birds dive and stuff, but they're *small*! :-P

And this would have to mean relying on some good winds too.

[livejournal.com profile] ursulav has written a comprehensive analysis (http://www.metalandmagic.com/Pages/Galleries/ramblings/Ramble4.html) of wingspans on fantasy creatures. It was written more for the furry art community, but it still applies here.

I don't think the curse which causes them to change into stone is biological, so maybe it affects their clothes as well.

So you basically don't think it's scientific? Well, I guess I wouldn't either, but oh well! hehe.

But I thought I've seen the hold other things that don't turn to stone. Very confusing!

I think it would depend if the clothes they wear are those they were wearing when the curse was placed on them. Imagine the stench!

::snicker:: That always bugged me too! They wear the same clothes! But I guess for their time period, they would. Oh well. I always imagined that the clothes turning to stone cleansed it somehow.

And aren't they born with the turning-to-stone-during-the-day feature? They're not really cursed individually, except for their really long nap!

It probably isn't. Most of them don't have wings attached correctly. No way Goliath's wings could bear his weight with the only attachment points being at the shoulderblades -- even if he were hollow-boned like a bird, which he probably isn't, given how much smackdown he lays around.
