I can understand wanting (and expecting) compensation if you have a permanent account. You paid for that. But listen closely: if you have a free or early adopter account, you did not pay for anything. You did not lose money for the time that LJ was down. Yes, it sucks, yes, I can see how you were distraught and traumatised - but you do not deserve compensation. YOU SPENT AND LOST NO MONEY.

*sighs*

People who expect monetary compensation for time lost when LJ was down have even more pathetic lives than I do.

I mean...what the frell?

oh YES.

(If no one else mops them up first, I'm tempted to work out my frustration at the compensation requests by writing a huge and beautiful and defeating-all-possible-retorts response. If I can think how to, at least; my whomps have never been Gunk-flavoured.)

Heck, even as a paid user, I feel a little guilty for accepting the 2 week extra paid time. I'm grateful, and it helps!

Oh, and I have a paid account, but I thought the compensation was a bit excessive. (Doesn't mean I felt bad about taking it, though.)

people ARE ridiculous. they do this at tmobile too. people who got free accounts from oprah or doctor phil call in and want monetary credits if their tower goes down or if they get a dropped call. its pathetic.

Wait..there are actually people who never paid the site a cent asking for compensation? Good God...

I wonder if those free users realise that the site is doing them a favour by not making them pay, not the other way round.Pfft.

I thought it was really cool that they offered compensation.
It never occured to me to expect it.

I wonder if that's because we don't have that thing here where you can sue over the silliest things(forget the right words right now)?

"I want more Free!!!"

What, they want two weeks of 'paid' privileges for "compensation"?

They were distraught and traumatized? Seriously?

I'm still too traumatized by Janet Jackson's Perky Nipple (I still wake up SCREAMING) to notice if the outage has traumatized me or not.

I don't care. I want two weeks of time where I don't have to pay for my free journal, too. Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking for two weeks of paid account time. I just want two weeks of my free-journal with all the normal free features, only I want it free.

Is that really too much to ask for?

I'm even surprised (though not complaining) at how MUCH compensation LJ gave to paid users. It was down for less than two days, three at the most, and we got two whole weeks? As I said, I'm not complaining, but I fear that the LJ staff did that because people felt that they were entitled to it. ^^;

Hey, if it's a guilt-renewal scheme they've got working in there, it's working on me. ;-) Nah, LJ is the second thing I pay for online (only running behind my website that's all of $6 a year), so they've already got me whether they offer "inconvenience overcompensation" or not! I'm tight on money, so that gave me a little buffer time to get the money to them. Hopefully my husband will have gotten a very good new job by then (one he's got an interview for in a week!). :-D
