Girls can wear pants all the time without becoming lesbians, but it's not okay to allow boys to wear a skirt, ever, because they won't understand the concept of "special occasion" and might grow up to become one of those hoomoos and, I don't know, beat up on straight kids. It is, however, okay to encourage your young kids to dress up in camoflauge like soldiers, because it's all right if they kill people, so long as they aren't gay.

I remember reading once about a woman who, because she didn't have any cereal, ONE TIME gave her kids leftover pizza for breakfast.

All day she had to deal with calls from people whose business it most emphatically was NOT telling her that she shouldn't do that.

I must have been confused for a minute there. Now that we know what makes kids gay, we can send out the advisory to the world. No parent will ever have to suffer the shock of their child's coming out again!

I'm a leader for kids-activities at church, and we have a 13 year old boy who is just adorable. Once, he wore a green skirt to church, without his parents knowing, and I felt instantly that I, as a leader, should encourage this kind of behaviour. The other kids (all younger) asked him afterwards why he wore a skirt, and he replied "In scotland, guys wear skirts". It was a new situation we encountered, and I think we all handled it very well and there were not many who chided him for it.

We have also introduced a drama class in church, where the gender roles are VERY subtle. I hope to see boys who dress like girls and girls who dress like boys as a standard in my church in the future, anyway.

It doesn't help that I think a "cross-dressing day" like that would be pretty awesome, and I like swapping gender roles around all the time. I'd find a military dress up day to be a lot more offensive.

Also, this reminds me of the many times I've seen where people won't allow a guy on a field hockey team because the uniform includes wearing a skirt.
