On the sign into the library, they kindly inform us that it's prohibited to put our feet on "chairs, cassels, or other library furniture". That's all well and good, but what on earth is a cassel?

Come to think of it, it might've been carrel after all. Which raises another question, 1. why and 2. why do they expect us to know that word?

Are you sure it isn't carrels? At our library they have these sectioned study tables with walls, like a cubicle but all in a line.They call them carrels.

Yeah, I work in a library and we call our study tables carrels as well. *shrug*

Yeah, it looks like a typo for carrels, although it's kind of an odd typo.

That or a really spelling-impaired person aiming for "castles", but I have not seen any castles in libraries recently.
