People!

Earthquakes? So far, this year, we've had an average number of 'em. And an average number of deaths, too.

Hurricanes? Well, we already knew we'd be in a high-activity cycle, because that's what all the data of the past 100 years or so shows. And right now we're midway through the high-activity cycle. Joy. We don't know if the problem has been exacerbated by global warming, but let's wait for the known high-activity period to start fading before we jump to conclusions, 'k?

Flu pandemics? Nope, those go in cycles too. Every 20 - 40 years, which matches with what I've read elsewhere In fact, we're about overdue for one, which is why people are freaking out over avian flu right now.

It's not just one person. It's everyone. And it's getting on my nerves.

How thoughtful of you.

Actually, in response to any of you who are frustrated by my "types," let me just say this...

I haven't spent the time googling any of this, because, frankly, I have better things to do. My post took all of about 30 seconds to type. It's 30 seconds I took out of researching the surgery I'm having in a few months. I just happened to be thinking about it because I had the new on the TV next to me.

Really...I'm terribly sorry I don't have as much spare time as you do to research how often we have hurricanes, floods, earthquakes and pandemics. I'm a bit precoccupied with the life-changing event that is happening for me right after Christmas.

How about you work my 40 hours this week, you watch my two kids and make sure they do their homework, you cook dinner and wash the dishes, do the laundry and clean the yard, go have my mammogram done for me next week....and I'll be more than happy to take the time to research just how often we've had natural disasters in the past.

I'm just insulted that it's assumed that my "types" don't know how to google or research something. I'm not going to get into an argument about how I should be prioritizing my time, let alone my online time. I should have had dinner started an hour ago, but I was sweeping the sidewalk and cleaning out the garage. Things that it's taking me twice as long to do, now that I have at least 2 extra pounds on my chest I'm carrying around that I didn't have before.

I didn't think my post was even that "apocolyptic" or "new age Edgar Casey." I simply stated something to the effect that we don't own the Earth, and the rest was questions...not outright statements. I was looking for opinions, not to be insulted on someone else's journal for not taking the initiative to do research about it. Hell, I even asked if it was a cycle the Earth was going through.

I'm aware that you didn't blatantly insult me...what pissed me off was reading your friends' comments. They seem a bit pretentious.

At any rate, I really do need to get dinner started.
