Since I belong to a little bitty credit union, my branch is closed tomorrow and I have to go into the city to get a replacement and, while I'm there, have them fix my name - if they remove my middle initial from my card, my last name will fit properly, easy-peasy. Or I can wait until Monday, since I'm certain I lost it in the house, but it turns out there's another protest tomorrow so I may as well go in.

Anyway, speaking of protests and politics and food banks, petra is offering up fanworks:

Too many letters, too few spaces

My high school girl friend's first name was Victoria and her last name was a Greek name eleven letters long. When she took the National Merit Scholarship test she couldn't fit it all in the blanks provided on the test sheet. When our city newspaper published the names of the local finalists she was dismayed when her dream of getting her name in the paper (for something good, of course) went sideways when she was unmistakably identified by Victor (plus long Greek last name). She only half jokingly swore she'd marry someone named Smith so that would never happen again... She actually married someone whose last name was six letters instead of five, but close enough. 😊
