My mom has noticed that not feeding for a day or so, breaking the reward system, and feeding at erratic times can both discourage the turkeys. The neighbor's dogs are an even bigger deterrent---the turkeys stay out of his yard entirely now!
They should be moving to nesting areas now, but in the suburbs there are likely to be odd bits of sheltered land that they'll try to use.
The wild turkeys here don't have any kind of regular schedule. Sometimes none show up, sometimes only a couple, sometimes 35 of the suckers come and eat everything the little birds drop; some of them get up on top of the bird feeders and hang their heads down to extract seeds or suet. Last year (I think it was) they showed up en masse every day for at least a couple of weeks, and marched around and around the house. I was starting to think they were trying to make the walls fall or something....
Well ...
