The turkeys didn't invade today

Possibly because I fed the birds later, possibly because they've moved on. Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of turkeys?

My mom has noticed that not feeding for a day or so, breaking the reward system, and feeding at erratic times can both discourage the turkeys. The neighbor's dogs are an even bigger deterrent---the turkeys stay out of his yard entirely now!

They should be moving to nesting areas now, but in the suburbs there are likely to be odd bits of sheltered land that they'll try to use.
