(Some) French speakers, apparently, say CVS with the English pronunciation of those letters instead of the French pronunciation. When speaking French, I mean.

In other news, I got my flu shot today, yay. I was gone for ages, and Jenn was - gasp! - at the office, and when I came back I was very enthusiastically greeted by two extremely excited doggies.

On the San Diego trolley system, the recorded station announcements on the train are in English, immediately followed by the same in Spanish, except that the station names are pronounced as in English, even if they're Spanish words.

Hey! Fellow San Diegan!

And yeah, I think this mix of pronunciation is common for bilingual regions/speakers. See also the pronunciation of wi-fi in Canada vs France.

No, I was visiting. I'm from considerably further up the California coast. But I like San Diego a lot, and the trolley was very useful.

It can be surprising what's different and what's the same. I was amused to see in Quebec that what we know as KFC was PFK, despite that not standing for anything any more.

When speaking about the drugstore chain, I think I'd go with see vee ess, because of the US context for its referent. For the revision control system, I'd probably go for say vay ess instead, because that doesn't carry any country context for me.
