Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

I think about this one every spring when I see tiny new leaves. Thanks for posting it!

I love running my fingers along the new and old growth on plants which don’t shed their leaves for winter - ivy and evergreens and barberries.
