I guessed around 1%, and wondered if that was still too high. Apparently I was in the right ballpark - although I don't know if the ballpark is the same size in Canada.

That seems obviously way too high given that I haven't been robbed in the past 6 years ... or 12 ... or even 30.

Yeah, I read the question and, like you, tried to work out my odds. Well... I've never been robbed before, and while I know crime happens in this area the last mugging of somebody I personally know was several years ago and the last burglary even longer, so my answer was "Pretty slim, probably", and... yeah, 1 percentish sounds about right for that. 15 percent is a ridiculous number.

I have had a burglary happen to me, 8 years ago, but I wasn't counting that because burglary when you don't even see the burglar isn't robbery.

Someone broke into the house in which my daughters and I were sleeping, about twenty years ago. They didn't steal anything because one of my daughters disturbed them. That's the last time I remember being the victim of any sort of crime until someone fraudulently used my credit card last year.
