I think for a lot of white Americans, they barely interact with people who aren't their family & maybe their church. So then when the political discourse is also saying, you should fear these people - they're responsible for everything wrong with your life - they're dangerous and need to be controlled... It does lead people to believe they need a tyrant.

See, to me, this kind of thing is far more interesting than dreary Federal Socialism forcing upon people what they should want instead of what they do want. That gets tiresome, as Eastern Europe eventually proved - tho’ the lesson is slow to catch on here.

Date: 2018-06-02 05:11 am (UTC)If you go into the black sections of any city, the only white faces you see are on TV and in cop cars. Not even Hispanic - the black areas are huge, and purely black.
Meanwhile, self-segregation among blacks at college campuses is rampant. They want nothing to do with whites, and get their way.
Oops… [That's different, of course. Somehow.]

The college I went to was about 50% black and non-white hispanic, 30% white. You don't know what you're talking about.

Date: 2018-06-02 06:46 am (UTC)Even if that were true, and it certainly isn't in this major urban area, black neighborhoods are overwhelmingly residential neighborhoods, and the overwhelming majority of adults living there have to go into the rest of the city for their jobs. Just like everyone from all the bedroom communities.
Would that the ghettos were economically self-sufficient, such that most people living didn't have to leave them to find the better sorts of work! But alas, they are not, for obvious historical reasons.
There may indeed be areas of the US in which black people can live without having to encounter white people, but those areas are not sections of any city
