It's backwards because I was in a selfie someone else was taking. It says "not gay" (the rest of it says "not gay as in happy, queer as in fuck your borders"; it's a t-shirt sold as a fundraiser for an immigration charity and I wore it to Pride this year).

As a queer immigrant, I am very fond of it. A friend of mine posted a picture of himself wearing one, and I shared it saying "this is the most me thing ever." Another friend saw this and agreed so much she bought it for me! Am especially kind gesture as I couldn't have afforded to get it myself.

Right now, I'm making more of an effort to be visible as bi, because it seems important. That's a calculated risk, and the calculation changes with time and place: now is less safe than two years ago, but maybe still safer than it was a decade or two ago. And I'm safer doing it at my age than I would have been at hers.
