I can't fix the drippy faucet until I turn the water off. THE WATER REFUSES TO TURN OFF. I found the cut-off, but it won't turn, and I'm starting to worry about breaking it there, which would be worse. How bad an idea is it to just turn off the water to the entire house to replace that one leaky washer?

that now that the obvious scheming villain has dropped his charming, courteous mask, I suddenly find I like him a lot more? The main characters are all "Oh! But I thought you were our friend! And you've betrayed us! And not for good reasons, like if you really think this cause is just or something, you betrayed us just for money!" and I'm thinking "Wow, you've turned into an actual, likeable person, and I completely understand why you thought money was a good reason to betray people even if I agree that it was reprehensible."

Maybe it's because his charm was super smarmy before and now he's not because why bother?

Edit: OMG. I am talking about a book, not about real-world politics. Ick.
