And it was an A, too! I could tell by looking! Then she made a B (eh), and an F (DEFINITELY!), and what was apparently an R, but I had to take her word for it. Oh, and another A.

She did this all on her own, with no help or prompting. We are not working on letters with her, any of us.

She's two. This is... this is... this is what going mad feels like. Where's that icon?

Angelique declared that a random ship was going to China, and I can't imagine where she heard of China as a place before, so I asked her how she knew - and she told me that it was written on the boat. A few minutes later, after the ship was well out of sight, she started spelling it out. "China... ch - haitch eye ennn.... oh, and a see. C H N!"

Later in the day, she tried to spell out the word "buckle", a word she's probably never seen written. "B... bu-k. C. O... ul... ul... uh...." She got stuck on the "le", of course, but she mostly managed a quick phonetic rendering. If you skip that first vowel.

Clearly, she can't spell as well as she can read, however well that turns out to be.
