Preliminary vocabulary list...
May. 24th, 2004 05:02 pmTo be updated as I go on. I think I'll send it to my mom and ask her to print it, handwriting it is such a trial:
si quis: if anyone (I should've know that, after all: after si, nisi, num, and ne, all the ali's drop away)
tamen: yet, however (another one I SHOULD KNOW)
pinguis: fat, fertile
oportet: it is proper
iniussa: spontaneous (duh, it's in-iussa!)
quoque: also (and I'm not the only one who brainfarts on this)
myricae: tamarisk
nemus: grove
gratior: welcome (?)
impleo: fill up
mugitibus: mooing
forte: by chance
hesterno: yesterday
venas: no idea. Help?
procul: from a distance
tantum: so great (yet another word I ought to know)
delapsa: fallen (it has a lapse, easy to recall)
ansa: handle
cantharus: goblet
luso: trick
iniciunt: throw on
pingit: paints
frontis: forehead
rupes: cliff
simul: at the same time, together (simultaneously)
vultis: you wish, are willing
tum: then (wow, I really need to work on my adverbs)
inane: emptiness (makes sense, I just have to stop saying inane)
coacta: were gathered together
concreverit: grew
pontus: the sea
discludere: to divide, set off
summotis: drive off (the motis is a big hint)
lapides: stone
latrantibus: bark, bark at (participle, though)
Any advice for mnemonics is welcomed heartily.
