One on tubeless toilet paper

One on sending leftover Halloween candy to the troops. Of course, it seems odd to Support Our Troops by giving them cavities, but I suppose they get free dental, don't they?

And finally - what percentage of people are making more than $250k a year?

Touch screens on phones have more germs per square inch than toilets.

Well, no duh. YOU DON'T BREATHE ONTO TOILETS.

I may have to go read up more about sanitation, I seem to keep finding articles on toilets to read as it is.

Speaking of which, we have a visitor cat. He's the cuddliest thing EVAH, and he's free to a good home so long as you can get him from here or Manhattan to where you are. I posted about this in the [community profile] newyorkers comm, and got one person saying maybe, but if that falls through....

He's very sweet, litter-trained (see? It's relevant to toilets!), and snuggly. An unneutered male, probably about a year old. Somebody cut off (and tied into knots!) his whiskers, poor thing. Jenn is going "Probably some kid who doesn't know better", but that kid's GONNA know better if I find out about it. The kitty is very snuggly and seems to crave attention, but then, he just came from the mean streets of Staten Island. I suspect he'd adapt well to kids and/or other pets (the nieces aren't here right now so we can't try this out), but I can't prove that, of course.

And bidets!

Link one
Link two
Link three - this one talks about sewers

And a picture of what purports to be a Japanese toilet. Clever design, you don't have to redo all your plumbing to reuse that graywater.

Interestingly, there's a lot of talk there about saving toilet paper, and how even with a bidet you still need toilet paper, and nobody seems to realize that everybody on Etsy makes cloth toilet wipes. They're pretty and fluffy, what more can you ask for?

Ice machines! They're not just dirtier than toilets, they're dirtier than the water in the toilets! (But... they probably don't have ice made with the icky blue bleach, which is a plus.)

Thanks for the conversation on [livejournal.com profile] parenting101. I have not yet discovered if toilet water is dirtier than keyboards, but I've known for ages that toilet seats are :)

Kitchen sponges? Dirtier than toilets.

At this point, I'm starting to wonder if there's anything less likely to harbor germs than your average toilet! Yeesh.

Working during the night, Jenn and 'dul couldn't unclog it. So I thought I'd go online and see what I could see. Apparently, dishwashing soap helps. At least, it probably won't hurt, and it's a heck of a lot cheaper than a plumber, liquid or otherwise.

I'm only updating to share an interesting tidbit I found - apparently, the drain in your house's bathroom sink has more germs than toilets! And the toilet seat is the cleanest area in your bathroom (the sink itself is the filthiest).

Naturally, I'm not that surprised. I keep track of this sort of information. But I thought some of you might like to be updated as well :)
