Gee, we're doing a lot of those. It's like I suddenly went out and got a life.

Or, not really, since What I Did Today consists primarily of Went to the Bookstore.

So! I went to the bookstore. It was great. A lot of people had arrived a few hours early for Potter-rama-oh-five, which meant the store was full of readers. My kinds of readers. I overheard some of them looking at the DWJ books and commenting on the "Chrestomanci quartet", so this gave me an opportunity to plug the new Chrestomanci book at them. Apparently, they hadn't heard of it. Yes, I don't believe it either.

Sat down and read Hilari Bell's book "The Wizard Test". It's written for younger readers than most of the stuff I read, especially by her, but I didn't have time for a long book. Still, it's a complete book, with angst and character development and all that good stuff. I love this author.

I left right on time to avoid the Harry Potter rush. I did consider staying, but I had the drum circle to get to, and bubble stuff to buy, and besides, I didn't really want to be with all those people. Plus, as I was leaving, I saw the door signs - strobe lights would be involved. Ick. No, I'm well out of it.

Went to the drum circle, watched my mother's young friend Rosa (aged 10 or 11) chase adoringly after Ana, completely oblivious to the fact that we were using her as free babysitting. I mean, we were watching her watch Ana, but we didn't have to chase after Ana personally. Ana eventually teamed up with another toddler, May-may to play "chase me and get a big hug", and then "ooh, bubbles!". May-may got a free bottle of bubblestuff, courtesy of me. I often buy a bottle of bubble stuff (at $.49, it's not really a splurge), blow bubbles on the boat or in the park, and then hand off the bottle of stuff to some friendly looking kid when I decide to go home. Those bottles get icky and drippy fast, so I figure it's better to let a hapless parent clean up the mess. The parents always make a big deal of thanking me, poor saps.

Bit later, I helped an aunt of an eight year old kid decide what to do for his birthday. Let me pause to describe this kid. As his aunt and I talked, he crouched on his hands and feet. He occasionally moved closer or farther away on the bench without once being bipedal. (He's apparently a veritable encyclopedia on animals, which is why they decided on the Bronx Zoo for his birthday). He eventually spent some time bounding back and forth across the park on all fours. Judging by his speed, and the apparent agility, this seems to be something he does often. I was relieved, in fact, to see that he apparently can walk on two feet, albeit slightly clumsily. Yes, this kid was better on hands and feet than walking in the standard fashion for humans. I'm currently torn between puzzled and very impressed.

Now that I've digressed, we return to MY day. We took Ana-banana home, observed that she's terrified of the wind (now, that's a weird little kid....), and I settled down to read on my bed. Yes, I do occasionally do other things in my room than go on the computer. So I almost missed Monk. God, I love Ambrose. Not sure why they were airing a new Halloween episode now....

Oh, and BSG. OMG, I love that show, but what the FUCK did they do to the credits? I miss the spoilers they used to show :(

And Gaeta is so a cylon. And gay. He's definitely gay. And a cylon.

And that was my day. I read a lot. I watched Rosa play with Ana. I played with Ana. I watched a strange little boy (cool, but strange) bound across a park. I watched TV and read. I typed. I am typing. I continue to type. I will soon stop typing to submit this entry. I mean it. No, really. One, two, two and a haaaaaaalf....
