Just because their motivation is lame doesn't mean that the resulting software will suck.

*gigglesnorts*

That said, whatever happened to "we don't think that consumers are interested in tabbed browsing"?

You know, I don't actually want tabbed browsing. I use IE for that very reason- that and the fact that both Opera and FF work very slowly on my computer, even with no extensions installed.

I don't know about the majority of consumers, but I'm apparantly one of the ones who they were talking about- I don't like the interface or the appearance of tabbed browsing- I prefer having each of the web pages I've got open in its own neat little window.

Give me my single document interface back, Microsoft! ::sniffles melodramatically::

You know what would be really cool? Tabbed MSWord. I hate how now multiple documents open in multiple windows, rather than all inside one. *Shakes fist at Microsoft*

Now that I can go for-- in fact, both of my preferred word-mashing programs, EditPad and RoughDraft, work like that.

In Safari for the Mac, tabbed browsing is disabled by default-- you actually have to enable an option in the preferences for "Open In New Tab" to even become a menu item. If Microsoft did it similarly, I don't think there would be any issues...

I use FireFox for three reasons:

1) Tabbed browsing
2) Built-in pop-up and cookie blocking
3) The AdBlock plug in

FireFox has had all three since, what, 2004? Microsoft will have more than just pop-up blocking in when, 2006?
