Too bad those books SUCK.

Seriously. The MC is on a plane, and the business guy nearby (next to him?) is roaring drunk and obnoxious as hell. The Rapture comes, and absolutely no one is duly concerned except for the drunken business man-- who's already been established as a foil.

The FOIL is smarter than everyone else in the ENTIRE books.

Sorry. I just can't understand how such tripe manages to sell so well....

I started reading one of them once and god what an awful piece of writing! It was terribly written, the characters were unrealistic... why is it so popular?!

I can't possibly begin to fathom the reason it might be-- and I've got relatively low standards for what makes a pleasant read for me.

I'd almost say that Anne Rice has more literary merit. Almost.

Haha. Well, I had no trouble reading The Eye of Argon yet couldn't bring myself to read more than a few pages of any one of the Left Behind books so...
