Let's just say that I hate this country, I hate people (both in general and in particular), and I want to start a commune somewhere else. ANYWHERE else. If we get enough dirt and rocks and random junk, we can build our own island, can't we?

In fact, screw a commune. I'll go back to my childhood dream and become a hermit.

But there's still lots of uncharted islands out there, aren't they? We just need to pick an archipelago that's big enough, and settle there.

I'm neither autie nor aspie, but I considered hermitude. But I realized it'd be too hard to get food and supplies and such. What I really wanted was a well-stocked fortress of solitude I could retreat to at will.

But...GRRR!! Yes indeed this does make me wish that Idyll Valley (my symbolic alternate mini-world located on an imaginary island in the Atlantic) were real. They have an "elected monarchy" like a combination of America and Britain, but thankfully it's not so blasted TWISTED.

My ideal world has a complicated family structure and no actual laws - everything is decided with long-ass debates and discussions on a case by case basis.

Same here! It makes me almost wish I'd taken French classes in high school instead of Spanish. Of course, back then I also had no clue our economy would be so friggin' horrible or that our government would be a great mass of self-possessed fundie "Pharisees" (as another one of my friends put it).

We could start an aspie commune here in New Zealand. Only 4 million people to deal with and most of them are in the North Island :p.

About how much land would we need per person? And it'd be great to be self-sufficient, so we have to add more land to that for farming purposes. And a large library.... *ponders*
