Let's just say that I hate this country, I hate people (both in general and in particular), and I want to start a commune somewhere else. ANYWHERE else. If we get enough dirt and rocks and random junk, we can build our own island, can't we?

In fact, screw a commune. I'll go back to my childhood dream and become a hermit.

Maybe. I'm not an expert in hermits I always think of Emily Dickenson alone in a cabin in the woods somewhere.

But I doubt if I became a hermit someone would support me in my hermitude, leaving nice plates of french toast and potatoes and peas for me on a regular basis.

Emily never really moved out of her parents' house.

And she lived in Amherst, Massachusetts.

That is all potentially consistent with what I was told - that xhe lived alone in the woods somewhere and never sought to publish.

But I could have been told wrong. As I said, I don't know much about hermits. That's just the image I get.

'Cept, she wasn't alone. Or in the woods. :) Several people tried to persuade her to publish. She, in fact, sought the criticism and help of more than one established poet. I'm not sure how active she was about publishing, though.

Well, there goes a good story.

No good hermits for me to model myself after then.
