The moral of the last two episodes can be summed up as "never air live when you can air on a delay instead". Though I did find those chyrons for the show trial pretty amusing!

(I have questions about this timeline, though. 15 years ago this dude was a relative nobody and he went to prison, and then once he broke out of prison about two years ago he had a meteoric rise and now he's running news networks? Also, is his organization providing quasi-governmental services and if so, what are they? Also also, and quite seriously, who the hell was founding all those colonies that couldn't support themselves? The whole point of a planet is that you can produce enough food! If your planet cannot grow enough food, go settle one that can!)

I'm still on "why are we making an ICE agent our heroine?" Like if Tatiana Maslany was sentenced 15 years ago and only broke out like two years ago, what was Ake doing the entire time? Faffing around feeling guilty? She could have appealed to Vance. She probably has the President on speed dial. She could have done a feat of rogueish derring-do. It did not occur to her even once to check in on how she was doing or to inform her that here son was missing.

No, I think they did tell her that they'd - whoopsie! - mislaid her son in a sandstorm.

Which, tangent, his escape was really neatly pulled off, very clean. There is no way that was his first crime. His mom was clearly using him in her thefts this whole time. And no judgment, maybe she had no choice - but c'mon, let's not pretend that this was her one and only theft. It's just the first time she was caught and couldn't get out before sentencing.

I've seen a lot of hate pup up on YouTube foe Star Fleet Academy. Mostly of the comments are either about it being WOKE and general bad writing. Can you explain that?

There's a lot of right wingers who like to cosplay as Trek fans and yet, somehow, they never understood that the whole point of Star Trek is that it's an atheist socialist utopia.

Anyway, the "woke" complaints probably sum up to: the person who runs the Academy is a woman, so is her second in command (who is married to another woman), the protagonist is Black, as is his holograph friend Sam, our sweet shy Klingon is dating another dude, also he rocks a skirt uniform all season long.

I'm sure they phrase it differently in a way that makes them seem less ridiculous, but that's it in a nutshell.

As for the writing... it's no better or worse than any other Trek show. *shrugs* Who watches Trek for the quality of the writing anyway?

I appreciate decent writing in any show. I can forgive bad writing in fan films but I demand it in fully funded professional programs.

Actually, come to think of it, there's a pretty broad female presence in this iteration of Trek. LOL, that's probably what's got them so pissed off.
