Follow the money. That's all I will say on this. I'm quite displeased with King. Then again, he'll probably retire considering his age when he's next up for reelection. Got my fingers crossed that we'll force Collins to retire next fall. I've been voting against her now for 30-some-odd-years, even when she ran for governor prior to winning the senate seat.
I guess I'm going to have to print out more "STAND UP AND FIGHT" flyers to stuff in the reply envelopes the Democrats keep sending me with their beg-and-pleads.
I learned from the coverage (not this article) that Shaheen's daughter and King's son are both running for office in their respective states, and I would encourage any voter there not to vote for the nepo babies. Say no to entitled, baggage-laden dynasties!
"Whipping" Senators is like herding cats. I still remember Lieberman single-handedly killing the public option in Obamacare. This defection does not surprise me as it does fit with the Demoblican/Republicrat narrative a lot better than a lot of wishful thinking on the left side of the political spectrum. Obamacare is effectively dying a slow death and these Senators had the foresight to see it.
I used to think pretty highly of Fetterman, but through this whole thing he's turned his back on the ordinary people who elected him. I hope that when the Dems primary him (I assume they will), they don't run some ultra-left wingnut and thus hand the election to the Republicans.
And what the hell were the last six weeks for, if the Dems were just going to cave and get nothing on healthcare? Disgusting.
Wonder how many of them believed that Democrats actually were going to get blamed for all of this and decided they couldn't stand having that on their voting records? And how many of them really did just want to do it, but were looking for an opportunity to do so that wouldn't result in immediate electoral consequences for them.
