Adrian Tchaikovsky is amazingly hit-or-miss for me, but this looks like it's coming up "hit". The sapient arthropods are a swarm of bees. If there are any spiders, I haven't met them yet!

The sapient arthropods are a swarm of bees. This is calling out (to me lol no one else I'm sure) for a Dogs of War/X-Files crossover. They're mutant alien bees, I assume? Okay, I will put this on my library queue.
