I fully expect that both sides will use the ceasefire to re-arm and prepare for the next similar conflict, but even a few weeks without bombs dropping on civilians is precious. And every hostage released is precious.

The big question is whether pressure from Saudi Arabia and their ilk leads to something more sustainable.

There were some rumblings about the timings being for political benefit in places around me, but that hasn't been substantiated, and it's definitely secondary to the hope that things are resolved now, and the violence will stop.
