Can somebody tell me what the kid did that was so horrible? Because I'm just not seeing it. I *am* seeing some pettiness on the part of the poster, though, notably this:

IB: What type of soup is it?
M (thinking): Didn't you read the menu *on your table*?! (out loud) Sweet Potato and Cummin.
IB: Oh, that sounds good.
M (thinking): Girl, even I don't know exactly what cummin is. Who are you trying to impress?

Wow. She *didn't read the menu*! Yes, she should've, but she didn't. And because she says "oh, that sounds good", she *must* be trying to show off?

No, the kid doesn't sound like the paragon of politeness. Skipping please isn't nice. But it's also not nice to correct other people's manners in public.

I think the little kid had a point too - ok, so it's not as polite as please, but she said may I which isn't that bad.

In Finnish there's no word for please...

yeah, but you could say "ole kiilti" (arrgh, i'm sure that's spelled wrong but i've just spent way too long doing finnish & my brain is fried @ the moment) though.

there's also the polite "finnish please" (as my textbook puts it) way of asking something--the "säisinkö viinia?" thing too.

After all <sarcasm>EVERY child should know that just ASKING for something nicely isn't enough, you HAVE to say PLEASE.</sarcasm>

God some people cn be nit picky. I would take a child who says may I over a child who is the rudest little asshole in the world and adds a please in there just to be more bitchy (they do exist). The little kdi was at least trying to be nice, and even if they didnt get it perfectly right. I know som kids try and be nice, but they arent sure what tosay, because adults cn be pretty intimidating to kids.

I like that community for the most part and i even post once in a while, like the time I caught somebody Jerking off in the porn roiom of the video store i work in. I think that customer was more sucky then a kid who was trying to be polite.

Yet another reason why I don't bother to actually subscribe to these communities, but instead just peek in when I'm particularly bored. I don't need junk like that cluttering up my fpage..

How bout this - we're all idiots at one time or another. Deal with it.

What I found funny:
Shouldn't the waiter have said, "May I hear a 'please', please?"

Instead of the gruff "Can I hear a 'please'?" and have the so-called IB tell him that at least he did use "May I".

My God, a kid acting like a kid in public? OH THE HUMANITY. Funny, I thought this was the 21st century, not the 18th, and it was generally acceptable for kids not to be incredibly prissy adults in miniature.

I think the poster needs a spanking, not the sprat. :p

I hate the excuse of "children will be children"... for, you know, a kid throwing things.

I thought the kid was pretty well behaved, and wondered if the poster just forgot to mention what made her so annoying.
