Can somebody tell me what the kid did that was so horrible? Because I'm just not seeing it. I *am* seeing some pettiness on the part of the poster, though, notably this:

IB: What type of soup is it?
M (thinking): Didn't you read the menu *on your table*?! (out loud) Sweet Potato and Cummin.
IB: Oh, that sounds good.
M (thinking): Girl, even I don't know exactly what cummin is. Who are you trying to impress?

Wow. She *didn't read the menu*! Yes, she should've, but she didn't. And because she says "oh, that sounds good", she *must* be trying to show off?

No, the kid doesn't sound like the paragon of politeness. Skipping please isn't nice. But it's also not nice to correct other people's manners in public.

Actually it sounded like an extremely rude and short tempered waiter with some personal problems with kids to me.

It even sounded like maybe she realized she had been kind of rude about the drink and was trying to strike up a conversation to make up for it, with the soup comment.

Honestly, waitstaff_suck, too.

Definitely. And you--you know how to spell it? God, how rude is that?

Actually, no, I think I've heard this story before.

A lot of the posts in that community end up being stuff like that. I mostly read for a few select people's stories.

Or at least get out of retail.

I love my job. The only things I ever really have to complain about are idiots asking for directions, or trying to make reservations, or that occasional drunk guy that won't leave me alone at the front desk.

But, hey, that comes with the territory.
