I went with Fips because I've heard that dogs go more by the vowels so foops/moops could cause confusion. Finneus versus Finnigan was a more random choice.

Well, there's no 2nd syllable in "Finn" to draw the onset consonant from (the p in Moonpie and Moops), but perhaps the p is a coincidence. But if it is, so can be the "oo" vowel, which leaves me with no way to choose between the 2 options you gave.
