I've posted before about our dog Finn's separation anxiety, which has slowly improved over the past three years we've had him. How much of this is due to him being a poodle vs. him being neglected by his previous owners? Hard to say, but it was a moment of celebration when we first were able to leave him alone in a room without immediately coming back in to calm him down.

He's recently become *even more chill*, and now will sometimes be on the bed with us without having to be snuggled directly under our arms. This could be because he's finally, finally, finally realizing that he is an independent dog and doesn't need constant physical contact to be happy - or it could be that, for the past several months, his humans have shaped up and stopped inexplicably leaving the house on dogless errands.

Could be both.

My friend's mom's dog has the worst separation issues I've ever seen in a dog. He goes berserk if she goes out of the house for five minutes.

That's great that he's feeling so much more secure. Two of ours have separation anxiety to a certain degree. Lily and Goldie spend the day lying by the laundry room door, which I exit the house from, or beside my side of the bed waiting on me to come home. Rosie, who cares much more for my husband, does not give a damn that I'm gone.

Lily is much older than Goldie, and I worry that Goldie is going to suffer a lot when her buddy passes away. :-(
