It's such a weird thing to lose, really. I'm actually pretty good about putting my spices away ever since the time I wasn't and replaced the cumin four times. (Still working through the consequences of all those replacements.)

In this case I think Ana or Eva may be the one who put it there - I'm fairly certain I left it carelessly on the kitchen table.

Don't you just love how all it takes is a blog/social media post and then at least one disappeared item suddenly reappears?

Hopefully the pepper flakes turn up soon.

Also, there's nothing wrong with having a bunch of cumin. One of the most useful spices in existence.

I have lost my Kindle about five times this year, and I blame it on the (very stylish) black cover. Once I put it down, it's invisible.

Even at our pretty high rate of consumption it's going to take about a year to go through it. We have more cumin than black pepper!

Zombie debt: How collectors trick consumers into reviving dead debts

A couple months back I got a call about owing money to Radio Shack. I told the guy on the phone that that debt had been settled 20 years ago (it was around 1993)

He insisted I owed it. I pointed out that it was more than 20 years old and told him to go fuck himself.

Haven't had any calls about it since.

If Radio Shack wants to collect that debt, let them do it themselves.

Given that Radio shack is no more, that'd be a neat trick.

I suspect that these bottom feeders got the "debt" as part of the liquidation of Radio Shack's assets.

When Fay gave it to me after she upgraded, it had a pink folding cover with lots of girly stickers on it. I still use that when taking it outside the house.

But I got a purple snap on cover from Mignova(?) for use around the house. The textured silicone gives me s good grip (and means it doesn't slide off the covers if I set it down on the bed. also has a builtin stand.
