The cough drops sound okay... but what do I know, I love butter menthol ones despite many doubts as to whether they ARE cough drops or just plain sweets...
Misreading is so much fun. Here I am, trying to figure out how the Yankee Candle Monopoly is enforced...
Not sure where that poor lost little 'the' creeped in, but there are enough of 'em running around that it'd be like trying to identify where one particular stray cat came from.
Pumpkin spice cough drops seem an almost inevitable outcome in a world that likes to pumpkin spice even things that don't normally have a scent or flavor, like glue gun glue sticks (I am not making those up).
The candle-branded Monopoly is just, well, perplexing is nearing understatement.

I can see the appeal of making glue-gun glue sticks smell like something different. I think the glue smells unpleasant, though it doesn't smell all that strongly unpleasant. It has to have some smell, because of the solvent. It's like those scented markers. Most of them smell like fruit, but the brown ones are supposed to be cinnamon. (They actually have slight overtones of clove, because it's so easy to make stuff smell like clove and people perceive it as a general "spice" scent. Change the label and the color and you could call that one pumpkin spice.) Why would you put perfume in a pen? Why would you make a PEN smell like FOOD and put it in the hand of a CHILD? How many of those things got licked over the years?
If the Yankee Candle Monopoly had scratch-and-sniff squares on the board, I could maybe see a point to its existence. Or if the point was the buy up shop space in malls and fill it with Yankee Candle Company stores, maybe?
The only house rule we ever played with was the pot that you collect on if you land on Free Parking. And we didn't always play with that. But I don't think that significantly changed things.
I had a friend who never lost of a game of Monopoly in his entire life (although he stopped playing in his early twenties). That may have something to do with why I dislike the game, since I played with him a lot. But there's something weird about it. It's intriguing and annoying all at the same time. And probably the weirdest set of rules for such a widely played game. If it were released today, it would get the worst ratings.
I figured you probably didn't use auctions. Hardly anybody does except That One Guy. But I'm told that auctions specifically (and not allowing any 'fun' rules that infuse cash back into the game) are what make it moderately playable, which is why i asked.
