I understand that the Puritans taught there were three legitimate uses for one's capital: real estate, a business, or an education. He lamented that he didn't sink any of that money into the first two, but it looks like he got himself the third!

Haha, avocado peel wasn't really a thing over here when I was a teenager turning over my parents compost bins, but I imagine it's a bugger for not breaking up nicely.

Also, pits. I've found that they do decompose if you arduously chop them up before tossing them in the bin, but if you don't then they just keep turning up again like a bad penny until you do.
