Is Your Child Lying to You? That’s Good (Man, those comments. 500 flavors of "Lying is bad, therefore this research is wrong!!!!" which is a. illogical b. dishonest and c. rather simplistic. We’ve been told that facts have lost their power, that debunking lies only makes them stronger, and that the internet divides us. Don’t believe any of it.

why in hell would people not actively seeking employment not be counted as unemployed?
also, the whole "we only exist to procreate" thing really pissed me off.

I think the "owners" of frozen animals (not just dogs) left outside ought to be chained up outside AS WELL for at least as long....

...but hey, that's me.

I've got a couple cats that keep wanting to go on the (screened in) porch - I keep telling them "hell no!" and they whiiiiine, so I crack the door and they sniff the air....and they stop whining. It's amusing. :)

That article about the stage design was fascinating, but I was expecting more of an Amish angle. I saw some of Yes' shows in the early 70s, and their stage designs were really amazing. Like nothing else around at the time.

I've seen that study about children and lying before, and it's fascinating! Also, the references to "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" are making me think of this: https://youtu.be/66SQKEf7UIs

I love that, totally make you think about "morality" plays in general in a different light.

The idea of animals being left out in the cold makes me want to cry. Brings me pretty physically close to crying, even. The fuzz in the icon was never left out in the weather. *Let* out, usually on a long leash, for the purposes of either going potty or playing in the snow, yes, but then brought back in. The joke was we could lose him in a snowstorm, he was such a light-colored labby. ... *wibbles*

Is Sweetheart the random pretty tortie in out of the weather? I'm going to hazard a guess at yes. Sounds like your local ferals are well provided for as well.

My kid haaaated the "lying is a sign of intelligence" thing -- since it implies the reverse, but kid has the "you should follow rules and lying is against them" aspect of autism... And the kid is most definitely capable of imagination and whatnot! So. >_>

*reads further* OMG, the "theory of mind" issue + autistics = MY KID WILL SMITE SOMETHING. It's generally the neurotypicals who can't comprehend a theory of mind that includes people who think differently, we've found. *turns into a grizzly bear and eats a few choice teachers and aides*
