A few years ago a pipe burst. What sort of clueless fool puts an uninsulated pipe on an exterior wall in this climate!?
Well, we actually never use the sink it's connected to, so we went with the cheap fix - cap it off! - rather than the full fix. Aaaaaand today it burst again, because when they capped it off the neglected to close the valve running to the pipe. Because of course they did.
$300 for the plumber to take a look, cap it again, slap some cheap insulation on it just-in-case, and turn off the valve properly so there's no freaking water in there to freeze.
