In 1940, the US Government had a radio broadcast highlighting the lives of illustrious immigrants. In 2017, we're starting an agency that focuses only on crimes committed by undocumented immigrants, and publishing a list of such crimes, which is literally something the Nazis did.

(Admittedly, FDR's government ended up interning the Japanese, and certainly deported any number of actual American citizens for being too brown and speaking Spanish, but let's not lose sight of the point here. This sucks.)

I am increasingly of the opinion that history is not a long series of progress steps toward something better but a constantly shifting opposing forces.

The WWII US government also pressured at lest some Japanese Americans to renounce their citizenship.

I was a little heartened to hear people flooding the VOICE hotline with reports of extraterrestrial aliens.

Oh no, I'm certainly not the one who came up with it - I found out about it from this article:

Of course, that makes the unfair and totally unwarranted presumption that such calls are pranks, rather than a serious attempt of concerned citizens to speak truth to power about the unlawful cover-up of this dire alien threat to our nation's health and liberty. People are dying of Morgellon's Disease every day, but nobody can prove it, because their bodies just keep walking around, and what the hell does our President plan to DO about that??? We the People have a right to know!!!1!
