Oh, geez...
Dec. 7th, 2016 02:43 amApparently, one day last week there were two overdoses at the St. George Ferry Terminal. Which is sad. And that editorial goes along fairly normally until the last paragraph:
And we've had the debate: Use naloxone to save overdose victims or let nature take its course? It's a different conversation when it's a friend or a loved one who's involved, but still the debate rages. Because there is no end to the drug scourge in sight.
THAT IS NOT A DEBATE. There is no debate here. What sort of amoral monster do you have to be to think that there is a debate here!?
Every once in a while I think "It might be good to be more on top of local news", and then the Advance reminds me why I don't bother. Never change, guys. Never change.

Date: 2016-12-08 03:50 am (UTC)Four or so years ago, a man killed three different Arab (or Muslim? Or maybe Sikh? He thought they were Arab Muslims, anyway) corner store owners. Serially, not like one spree or mass murder.
And he was duly tracked down and caught at his home on Staten Island. I saw the news report and went "Holy shit, I know that house!" and decided I wanted to know how the Advance would report on this case.
Here is their headline:
Suspected serial killer's home is a Staten Island 'monstrosity'
Granted, the house is a serious eyesore, but really!?
