Have you contacted any government officials since the election about anything?

If the answer is "no", I'm looking at you sadly and shaking my head. Go remedy it and answer again.

Was USA election stolen? (Also, seriously - just got an email back from Wisconsin - really fast, too! - saying they're already conducting an audit. So... why is it that the only mainstream American media source I can find with anything on this subject is USA Today? If they can find the bandwith to natter on about Hamilton and Trump Tower, couldn't they bring this up long enough to even reject it? Should I add them to my list of people to email/call/write? I mean, USA Today is not some fringe publication, and at least one state is actually conducting an audit, so... what gives?)

I have made more phonecalls to government officials in the last two days than I have in my entire life. I've signed more petitions, set up recurring donations. And I'm trying to decide how best to get involved at the local level. (On the one hand I am really, really starting to think that the first thing we have to defend is freedom of and access to expression and information--- we cannot, cannot, cannot do anything else without that fundamental capacity: to contact our officials, to get in touch with each other through all sorts of channels, and dear heavens but the fragility of our networking has started to terrify me--- for example, all Trump has to do to make it hard to contact government agencies is just to make "good" on his promise to cut back on/freeze federal jobs, and that's that many fewer people to answer the phone. On the other hand I suspect that will seem terribly privileged to my local Democratic committee. So I'm... exploring options.)

And, wow, go Wisconsin! (Do you have the contact information you used for the states in question, btw?) And, yeah, I'm thinking the national news outlets have to get added to our lists. (Again, if you find good contact info, I'll take it.)

(I think it's possible Wisconsin does an automatic audit every year.) Most of these states, to be honest, I just poked around their websites until I found a promising "contact us!" link.

Yes indeed, and I'm contacting more today. Haven't yet called anyone, but I've mailed a passle of postcards; now I'm writing a letter to my local paper. I'll post it on my Lj when I get it done.

You saw the list of links I just posted - my promise to myself is to contact every relevant official about every one of those issues before the end of this month. When my check comes in, there'll be some checks going out too.

*sighhh* I'm also going to have to join the local Democratic Party, and OMG such people.... I hope my eyes don't just roll right out of my head.

Given how this election went, I'm debating whether my time and effort might be better spent joining the Republican party. At least the Democratic nominees all act like grown-ups.

I googled around for various states' voting complaints forms and emailed the ones I found. I didn't want to waste precious phone-spoons calling out of state.
