I had a really good dream last night.
Jun. 30th, 2016 07:48 amWherein I managed to save a man from suicide via the power of logic and monologuing. Yes, I bored the poor man to sleep, and then he didn't want to kill himself anymore!
I'm not entirely sure this is how it works in real life, but in my dream, I was a hero. (Also, I think Captain Cold was in there somehow, but I'm not sure why.)

Date: 2016-07-01 04:12 pm (UTC)I have talked some people out of suicide in real life, and that is sort of how it works, because when they're in that state, their minds are stuck in a deep rut of "Reasons Why I Must Die", and one has to shove them over into "Reasons Why I Must Live" by whatever means necessary. Logic is one tool for that, though it has be backed by a lot of emotion, else it's just the proverbial wreath of pretty flowers that smell bad, and the suicidal mind-set will rationalize it all to flinders.
