I applaud the scientific findings on the logical intelligence of the cat.

One of the stories about my patron saint is that she was involved in a Byzantine bride show. The mother of the young emperor Theophilos had arranged a bride show for him, and he had to give a golden apple to the maiden he chose. He was inclined to give it to St Kassiane. He came up to her and said (why, I don't know), "from woman came what is worst" - referring to Eve's sin. St Kassiane promptly replied, "but from woman came also what is best" - referring to Jesus being born of Mary. Theophilos apparently decided that she was too forthright, and picked a different bride.

I'd like to track down the sources of this story, but haven't yet been able to do so adequately. (Apparently a few contemporary or near-contemporary chroniclers talk about her being in the bride show, but I'm not sure how much of the story they include).

Indeed.

Also, they were on opposite sides of a theological controversy, and would have considered each other heretics - not good for marital harmony. So just as well.
