I think the "looking autistic" article has possibly missed the most simple, superficial things. I knew a couple of autistic people growing up, and we wore uniforms at our all-girls school. We were all conformists - everyone's skirt was the same length (slightly shorter than our rulebook allowed), similar makeup (not entirely allowed), etc. The girls with Asperger's stood out because they refused to wear makeup, didn't bother with all the hair straightening and stripy highlights that were 'in' at the time, and their skirts were below the knee, when the rest of ours were hoicked up. So my immediate stereotype of Aspergers would be people who didn't care much about fitting in fashion-wise - it doesn't get as far as not following social cues or a lack of eye contact or anything subtle like that.
