I don't mean the gray and gray morality, or the generally grimdark setting, I mean the fact that the set designers and producers apparently never met a dark alley, poorly lit basement, or amazingly spacious sewer that they didn't think was just perfect for a fight scene.
I thought for a while it was my monitor, but no, it's just impossible to see what's going on because it's so dark. Lighting! It's not a crime against art! New York City doesn't get that dark at night anyway! BECAUSE WE HAVE STREETLIGHTS! (In related subjects, light pollution is actually a bit of a problem over here.)
Currently watching Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. That show is well-lit.
